A compound of ammonium nitrate and potash in a common granule.
Properties:
- Homogeneous product
- Granular
- Pink in colour
- Highly water soluble
Advantages:
- Nitrogen is in forms that are readily available for plant uptake
- Nitrate nitrogen component increases availability during cooler soil conditions
- Less hygroscopic than many other nitrogen-based fertilizers, so tends not to degrade as quickly
- Less nitrogen loss through volatilization than urea
- Superior application and flow characteristics result in more consistent field spreading
- Excellent alternative to AN; non-combustible, stores better and more durable granules
